Our Mission
Progressive Community Services, Inc. (PCS) support elders and adults with disabilities in
Dane County Wisconsin, helping them lead self-directed lives by connecting them with resources
that create an inclusive and integrated community.
We believe elders and people with disabilities deserve the opportunity to direct their own supports when possible while maintaining or improving their quality of life in their home and in their community.
In addition to working directly with elders and adults with disabilities, we work closely with guardians and their support staff to ensure that the person’s home and community life are led as inclusively as possible.
We are committed to meeting the high expectations of those we serve.
PCS Executive Director
The Executive Director of PCS, Alexa Butzbaugh, has been involved in the formation and implementation of Self Direction in Dane County since its inception in 1996. She continues to be active in State, County, and provider efforts focused on system-wide improvement, efficiencies, and change throughout the Long Term Care system, including but not limited to service on:
- Dane County Long Term Care Steering Committee (member);
- Dane County’s SDS Outcomes Committee (Chair);
- The Developmental Disabilities Coalition of Dane County, Inc (Vice Chair);
- The Dane County Support Broker Coalition (Chair); and
- POS Leadership Committee (member).
Our History
Incorporated as a 501(c) 3 in 2004 in Dane County, we were established as a support broker agency. We have provided support-brokering services to over 300 adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries.
In 2017, we became an IRIS Consultant Agency (ICA). As IRIS Consultants – assisting people and families who choose to manage their services through the IRIS program — we emphasize dedication to consumer choice using our deep knowledge of the programs and systems consumers must navigate.
